Defensive Shotgun 2

Age: 21+ | Cost: $250 | Length of Course: 12 Hours (1 Day in classroom 1/2 Day on the range.  | Pre-requisites: Virtual Target Defensive Shotgun 1 & Virtual Target Concealed Carry 2. Students should be in good physical condition, familiar with their equipment and have solid gun-handling skills established prior to attending this class. 


This 2-day shotgun training course focuses on tactical shooting concepts, development of competent gun-handling skills when using the shotgun for personal defense or home defense applications. Students will develop skills with the shotgun that will enable them to quickly and efficiently engage threats while performing multiple tasks such as moving and kneeling.

This course takes the student beyond the basics of the shotgun and introduces the student to deployment techniques that are critical when deploying the shotgun for personal defense. 

This class will leverage and utilize the shooting simulator for various drills and scenarios to help create a more interactive and stimulating training environment. These drills provide excellent dry fire exercises in a safe controlled classroom environment before conducting live fire drills at the pistol range.

Materials Provided By Student: 
  • 12 gauge pump action or semi-automatic shotgun with rifle sights or ghost ring sights, shotgun shell pouch and tactical sling. Lever-action and exposed hammer shotguns are not allowed! Detachable magazine-fed shotguns are not allowed! Semi-auto pistol with at least three magazines (Good quality pistol in .380, 9mm, .40 cal, or .45 cal.  A quality holster that fits the make and model of your pistol. The pistol must lock into your holster by either a snap that can be defeated by strong hand thumb or an internal device that holds your pistol in the holster. Velcro straps will not be allowed on holsters. Only strong side belt holsters will be allowed. (No shoulder holsters, cross draw holsters, or small of the back(SOB) holsters. The Blackhawk Holster with the index finger release will not be used in the classroom, range or on duty.  Paddle holsters are fine as long as you wear a belt with them. The holster must keep its shape when you remove the pistol, so you can re-holster without holding the holster open with your support hand. A quality magazine pouch that mounts on your support side. (It can be a double or a single magazine pouch). Hearing protection (Ear muffs or earplugs or both), eye protection (Sunglasses are fine/ If it is not sunny out you might want to have a pair of clear glasses. If you wear prescription glasses those will do fine).
  • Five 12 Gauge dummy rounds. 125 rounds of 00 buckshot, 10 rounds of shotgun slug ammunition and 50 rounds handgun ammo.
Recommended equipment: 
  • Shotgun shell pouch, sling swivels on front and rear of shotgun, water, gun-cleaning kit and gun oil. The tactical sling must allow the shotgun to hang freely in front of the shooter. All shotguns in this course require iron sights, preferably ghost ring sights or rifle sights. Bead sight shotguns will greatly limit the shooters ability in this class. Red dot sights and holographic sights are allowed in this class.

The Blackhawk Holster with the index finger release will not be used in the classroom, range or on duty.



Important Notice: Firearms must be kept in a case until instructed otherwise and no ammunition will be allowed in the classroom. Please leave ammunition in your vehicle until you are instructed to retrieve it for ‘live fire’ exercises.

Advanced courses are performed at an outdoor range and may be subject to cancellation due to inclement weather. If courses are cancelled, they will be re-scheduled at the earliest possible time. Students will have the option to re-schedule at a later date or receive a full refund.
